Terms
Effective October 24, 2026
These are the terms for using Preceptor: the website, the waitlist, a pre-order, and the study app. They're written to be read, not skimmed past. Using any of those means you agree to them. If you don't, please don't use Preceptor.
Preceptor is made by Owen Kurth and operated by RVLZ LLC, a Washington limited liability company doing business as Preceptor Prep. "I" and "me" below mean the operator; "you" means the person using it. The privacy policy is part of these terms.

The pre-order
A pre-order is $79, paid once, for one year of access to Preceptor when it ships. The price at launch will be $129. There's no subscription and nothing renews.
What a pre-order buys, as the home page describes it: the AI tutor, a bank of 600 questions written to the Adult CCRN blueprint and checked by a CCRN-certified nurse before they ship, and a 150-question timed exam.
It ships by December 31, 2026. If it isn't ready by then, I refund every pre-order in full, and you'll hear it from me before the date, not after. If fewer than a handful of people pre-order, I'll refund everyone and say so.
Your year of access runs from the day it ships, or from the day you buy if that's later. The email address you pay with is your account: when Preceptor ships, the sign-in link goes there.
Payment is taken by Stripe on Stripe's checkout pages, by card, in US dollars. Stripe's own terms apply to the payment itself. Sales tax, where it applies, is handled at checkout.
Refunds
Three promises, each a full refund of what you paid:
- If it doesn't ship by December 31, 2026. You'll hear from me before the date.
- If you change your mind. Any time before it ships, or within 30 days of getting it.
- If you don't pass. Sit the Adult CCRN within your year of access and don't pass, and I refund you in full. No conditions about how much you studied.
To claim any of them, reply to your order receipt from Stripe, with the score report if it's the exam. That's the whole process. Refunds go back through Stripe to the card you paid with.
Your account and the beta
Right now the study app is a prototype, open by invitation only. Your first sign-in uses a one-time invite code from me and asks for your email and a password; after that you sign in with those, or with a short-lived code your own signed-in device makes for another device. There's one account per email.
- Your password and sign-in codes are yours. A code signs a device in as you, so don't share one or post it. If you think someone else has your password, change it in the app or tell me.
- You're responsible for what happens under your account on devices you've signed in.
- I can remove anyone's access at any time, for any reason, including to end the beta. If I remove a paying customer's access for any reason other than breaking these terms, I'll refund them. Removing access signs out every device you have and stops new sign-ins. Your data stays as described in the privacy policy. You can download it from the app at any time while you have access, but not after.
- The beta is a prototype: it will change, it may break, and it comes with no promise of uptime. The question bank may change under you, and progress on an item that changes materially starts over.
- Beta access is not the pre-order. A pre-order's year of access starts when Preceptor ships, as above.
Using it fairly
Use Preceptor for your own exam study. Please don't:
- share your account or sign-in codes, or let someone else study on your account;
- try to reach other people's data, the question bank, or any part of the service beyond what the app shows you, or probe or load-test the servers;
- copy, scrape, download in bulk, or redistribute the questions, flashcards, rationales or guideline notes, or feed them to another tool or service (see below);
- work around the tutor's limits or use it for anything other than studying the material in front of you;
- enter patient information or anything that could identify a real patient (see the privacy policy);
- use Preceptor for anything unlawful.
If you do, I may remove your access.
The questions and flashcards
The questions, flashcards, rationales and guideline notes in Preceptor are either written for it or licensed to it, and the licensed material is not mine to pass on. They're provided for your personal study inside the app for as long as you have access. You don't own them and no license to them survives your access ending.
That means: no copying them out, sharing them, posting them, screenshotting them for others, or building something else from them. Your own progress data is yours, and you can download it any time.
None of the questions are real CCRN exam questions. AACN doesn't publish its exam questions; these are written to the current Adult CCRN blueprint, in the exam's style. The bank is drafted with AI and each question is checked by a nurse before it ships; follow-ups generated during a session are labeled as generated.
The AI tutor
The tutor's answers are written by an AI model, grounded in the question or card in front of you, its rationale, related flashcards and verified guideline notes. It's good, and it's checked against that material, but it is still a model:
- It can be wrong, including when it sounds sure. Check anything that matters against the rationale and your references, and use the "Report a problem" button when something is off. I read every report.
- It's exam prep, not medical advice. Nothing the tutor, a rationale or a flashcard says is advice about a real patient, and none of it replaces your judgment, your team, or your unit's protocols. Where the exam answer and bedside practice differ, the tutor is told to say so; on the unit, follow the unit.
- It has limits. Each person gets a number of asks per day, members have a monthly spending ceiling, and there's a shared daily limit for everyone. I can change the limits, the model, or switch the tutor off.
- What you type goes to outside AI services, as the privacy policy explains. Keep patients out of it.
AACN and the CCRN
Preceptor is not affiliated with or endorsed by AACN Certification Corp. CCRN is their registered trademark. This is an independent study tool, and AACN has not reviewed or endorsed it.
What I don't promise
Apart from the refund promises above, which I mean, Preceptor is provided as it is. I don't promise that you'll pass (the refund is what I offer if you don't), that every question, rationale or tutor answer is correct, that the service will always be available, or that it will fit a purpose other than studying for the Adult CCRN. To the extent the law allows, I make no other warranties, express or implied.
Limits on liability
To the extent the law allows: if something goes wrong with Preceptor, the most I owe you is what you paid for it, which for a pre-order is $79. I'm not liable for indirect losses, such as lost time, lost income, an exam fee, or the outcome of an exam or a clinical decision. Some places don't allow these limits, in which case they apply as far as the law there permits.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Washington, except that either of us can bring a claim in small claims court instead.
Changes
When these terms change, the date at the top changes with it, and continuing to use Preceptor after that means you accept the new terms. If you pre-ordered, you keep the price, ship-by date and refund promises you paid under; a change to the terms won't take those back.
Contact
Questions about these terms, a refund, or anything else: hello@preceptorprep.com. I read and answer the email myself.
